Abstract

PURPOSE: A cellulose ester solution is extruded from ring slits and simultaneouly a specific material is introduced as a core liquid, thereby producing hollow fibers with uniform and thin wall thickness and highly selective permeability by stable and high-speed operations.
CONSTITUTION: In the production of hollow fibers, formamide or a liquid mainly comprising the same is used as core a liquid and introudced into the core part of hollow fibers which are made by extruding the spinning dope from the spinneret. During coagulation, the coagulation liquid such as water permeates from the surface of fibers into the core part and mixes with the core liquid. So, the formamide is diluted and loses the capability of dissolving the cellulose ester. Subsequently the fibers are washed with water and the core liquid is replaced with water.
USE: Used in medical treatment and food industry.
