Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a hollow fiber, useful for hemodialysis, and having improved springiness and slight deterioration in properties, by extruding a cellulose ester spinning solution through an annular slit, and simultaneously introducing a liquid at a lower temperature than the spinning solution into the hollow part to coagulate the fiber in a coagulation bath.
CONSTITUTION: A cellulose ester, e.g. cellulose acetate, is dissolved in a mixed solvent of acetone with formamide, and the resultant spinning solution is extruded through an annular slit into a filamentary material. A core liquid, e.g. d-limonene, at a lower temperature than the spinning solution is simultaneously introduced into the internal hollow part of the filamentary material, which is then coagulated in a coagulation bath to give the aimed hollow fiber. The temperature difference between the spinning solution and the core liquid is preferably 10°C or more.
EFFECT: The low temperature of the core liquid suppresses the diffusion thereof into the spinning solution without causing rapid gelation on the inner surface of the hollow fiber. Thus, the inner surface of the fiber can be smoothed.
