Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title hollow fiber useful for homodialysis, having improved permeability of water and middle molecular weight substances, by extruding a spinning solution from a hollow fiber spinneret with a coagulating liquid into the atmosphere of a gas, and by coaqulating the drafted fiber at a specific ratio in a bath.
CONSTITUTION: A spinning solution of ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer in a solvent, e.g. dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), is extruded from a hollow fiber spinneret into the atmosphere of a gas while introducing a coagulating liquid, e.g. a mixture of DMSO with water, or a non-coaqulating liquid, e.g. n-hexane, from the center of the spinneret, and drafted at a ratio of 1:1.5W30, preferably 1:2W15. The drafted fiber is then coagulated in a bath, e.g. a DMSO-water solution, to give the objective hollow fiber by the dry jet-wet spinning method.
