Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled hollow fiber membrane suitable for external pressure whole filtration system, applicable to e.g. purifying tap water etc., by dry-wet spinning, under specified conditions through an annular nozzle, of a stock solution prepared by dissolving polysulfone and a fine pore-forming agent in a solvent common therefor. CONSTITUTION:When a hollow fiber membrane is to be produced by dry-wet spinning, through extrusion from an annular nozzle, of a stock solution prepared by dissolving polysulfone and a fine pore-forming agent (e.g. polyethylene glycol) in a solvent common therefor (e.g. DMF), (A) the dry zone atmosphere is kept at a state of either dry air with a dew point of <=-10 deg.C or nitrogen gas, (B) water at <=50 deg.C is used as the external coagulating bath, and (C) an aqueous solution of said common solvent with the concentration of 50-90wt.% is used as the internal coagulating liquid for injection into the core, thus obtaining the objective membrane with uniform skin layer free from fine pores of a size >=100Angstrom on the external surface, having fine pores of an average size 200-300Angstrom at an open cell rate 5-10% on the internal surface also with the interior of the membrane representing a finely porous structure.
