Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a hollow fibrous membrane, having a high water permeation rate, and scarcely causing the clogging efficiently, by extruding a polysyulfone resin solution through an annular nozzle, introducing a coagulating liquid consisting of a mixture solution of a good solvent with a nonsolvent for the resin into the core part, and coagulating the extruded solution.
CONSTITUTION: A polysulfone resin is dissolved in a solvent, e.g. dimethylformamide, and the resultant solution is then extruded through an annular nozzle. A coagulating liqud consisting of a mixture solution of a good solvent, e.g. dimethylformamide, with a nonsolvent, e.g. 1,4-butanediol, for the polysulfone resin is simultaneously introduced into the core part of the annular nozzle. The extruded solution is then passed through air and coagulated in a coagulating bath to give the aimed fiber having a dense layer having micropores with a pore diameter ≤ about 0.025μ in contact with a layer consisting of a spongy structure containng cavities having a diameter ≥5μ at a volume ratio ≥ about 20% without the reduction in amount of permeated water with increase in the membrane thickness.
