Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled hollow fibers, useful as a filtering membrane of blood components, and having improved albumin permeability and inhibiting ratio of blue dextran, by melt spinning high-density polyethylene.
CONSTITUTION: High-density polyethylene having a density of at least 0.960, preferably ≥0.965, a melt index of preferably 1W15 and essentially few branches is melt spun through a nozzle for preparing hollow fibers to give porous hollow fibers, having a water permeation of at least 100l/m2.hr.760mmHg or more, a permeation ratio to the human blood serum albumin ≥30%, inhibiting ratio of blue dextran ≥90% and many micropores boring from the inside wall surfaces to the outside wall surfaces on the peripheries thereof, and oriented in the long direction.
