Abstract

PURPOSE: A liquid paraffin of a specific dynamic visconsity is used as the core part and a cellulose ester dissolved in an organic solvent incompatible with the liquid paraffin is used as the sheath part to make the titled fiber used as a dialyzer for renal insufficiency of high urea permeability and good compatibility with blood.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A liquid paraffin with a dynamic viscosity of less than 40cst is used as the core part and (B) a polymer of cellulose ester such as cellulose acetate, which is dissolved in an organic solvent incompatible or little compatible with the liquid paraffin such as dimethyl formamide, is used as the sheath part and they are extruded through annular orifice type nozzles into a coagulation bath consisting of water and dimethyl formamide to effect coagulation. The resultant fiber is treated with aqueous glycerol and dried in a hot-air drier to give the objective hollow fiber.
