Abstract

PURPOSE: A dope of a mixture containing cellulose acetate of a specific acetylation degree and an acrylic polymer containing ionic groups is spun, subjected to desolvation and dried to produce the titled fiber keeping good points of acrylic fiber and becoming dyeable with ionic dyes.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 70W95wt% of cellulose acetate of more than 54% acetylation degree and (B) 30W5wt% of acrylic polymer containing more than 100mmol/kg of ionic groups such as acrylonitrile-methallylsulfonic sodium salt are dissolved in a solvent such as dimethyl formamide to form a spinning dope. The dope is extruded through nozzles into a coagulation bath to effect spinning and desolvation, rinsed with hot water, finished with oil and dried in hot-air driver to give the objective fiber.
