Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled fiber having improved water absorption and latent crimpability industrially and advantageously, by the composite spinning of two types of acrylic polymer solutions containing different amounts of plasticizer components and cellulose acetate.
CONSTITUTION: Two acrylic polymer solutions comprising 2W50pts.wt. cellulose acetate, 50W98pts.wt. an acrylic polymer and having 2wt% or more the difference in amounts of plasticizer components A and B in the acrylic polymer in an organic solvent are extruded from the same spinneret into a coagulation bath to form a composite fiber. The resultant fiber is then primarily drawn at a draw ratio of 2.5W 8, and dried at 100W180°C to a moisture content ≤1wt% while in a swollen state with water. The fiber is secondarily drawn at a draw ratio of 3 or less in wet heat to give the aimed eccentric composite fiber having the joining ratio between A and B of 3:7W7:3, the cellulose acetate content of 2W30wt%, a pore volume of 0.05W0.75cm3/g and a pore surface area ≤15m2/g.
