Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a mixture from blowing through and improve fuel efficiency, by providing a rotary valve at an exhaust port so that the valve rotates synchronously with a crankshaft and by opening the valve only when the exhaust port is opened by the descent of a piston.
CONSTITUTION: A rotary valve 5 provided with a recess 6 is mounted at an exhaust port 3 so that the valve 5 is rotated through a chain or timing belt 8 synchronously with the rotation of a crankshaft 9. When a piston 4 has gone down to open the exhaust port 3, the recess 6 of the rotary valve 5 is located at the exhaust port 3 to open it. In the process of ascent of the piston 4, the exhaust port 3 is shut off by the rotary valve 5 to prevent a mixture from blowing through. This results in economizing fuel and reducting exhaust pollution.
