Abstract

PURPOSE: To vary the valve opening time and improve intake and exhaust efficiency by engaging two cams with the rocker arm of an internal combustion engine and relatively angle-varying the cam-shaft by a differential gear and a centrifugal governor.
CONSTITUTION: A shaft 3 and differential pinions 4 and 5 are revolved by a cocked belt 1, and drives cam shafts 10 and 11 through differential gears 6 and 7 and cam shaft gears 8 and 9. A centrifugal governor is installed in the differential governors 6 and 7, and when the number of revolution of the engine increases, the differential crown gears 6 and 7 are relatively revolved by the centrifugal governor and a cam shaft is advanced and one valve is opened early, and the other cam shaft is delayed and a valve is closed late, and thus the valve opening time is enhanced, and the intake and exhaust efficiency of the engine is improved.
