Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce vibrations taking place when the engine controlled in the number of cylinders is mounted, by feeding a torque of rotation to a crank shaft with a short period the same as that on operations of all cylinders, even on operations of the partial cylinders.
CONSTITUTION: The second shut-off valve 14 is inserted in an operating exhaust passage 5 located at the downstream of an opening part A of an exhaust gas recirculating passage 6, at the upstream of the confluence B with a suspending exhaust passage 13 connected to cylinders 1W3 which are branched off the passage 5. On the other hand, in the same manner as a case of the first shut- off valve 4, shut-off valve is operated for opening or closing by a diaphragm means 15 of the type operated according to a negative pressure to which the negative pressure and atmospheric pressure are selectively introduced through a three-way electromagnetic valve 12, and the shut-off valve 14 is adapted to be closed only on operations of the partial cylinders. Whereby the high-pressure exhaust discharged from cylinders 4W6 in operation is flown into a passage 3 connected to the cylinders 1W3, through the passage 6. And then, the high-pressure exhaust is flown into the cylinders 1W3 by suction stroke of the cylinder, and pistons are pressed down by the exhaust pressure produced at that time and the torque of rotation is slightly provided to the crank shaft.
