Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the output torque at the time of full load in the middle and low speed ranges by providing an aux. intake line and an aux. intake valve, divergent from the intake line, and by equipping this aux. intake line with a check valve which admits only intake flow to the cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: An aux. intake line 11 is provided divergent from the intake line 8 and led to aux. intake vavle 10. A check valve 12 is provided in this aux. intake line 11 and admits only the intake flow to the combustion chamber of cylinder. The opening timing of the aux. intake valve 10 is advanced in the crank angle from the opening timing of the intake valve 9. While the engine operates with full load in the middle or low speed range, the exhaust pressure is low compared with the intake pressure in the later half of the exhaust stroke, so that overlapping owing to the aux. intake valve 10 will bring about blow-bye of intake gas, and the residual exhaust gas in the combusation chamber 2 is cleaned out. Thus the intake efficiency is enhanced and the output torque of engine is increased.
