Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the suction and exhaust efficiencies of an engine and improve engine output by a method wherein suction and exhaust valve ports opened at the combusiton chamber wall of the cylinder head of a four-cycle internal combustion engine are formed in an oblong or elliptical shape.
CONSTITUTION: A suction valve port 11 and an exhaust valve port 13 are made open at the wall of the combustion chamber 5 of a cylinder head 4 and formed oblong or elliptical in its shape. Still more the seat part 6' of a suction valve 6 and the seat part 7' of an exhaust valve 7 are also formed in an oblong or elliptical shape. In these manners, the effective opening areas of the suction and exhaust valve ports can be enlarged, resulting in the improvement of suction and exhaust efficiencies of the engine and the increase of engine output.
