Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of step sounds and improve an output by a method wherein suction ports are formed into a two divisions type and an auxiliary scavenging port is formed into a specified configuration, in a 2-cycle engine provided with the auxiliary scavenging port above the suction ports.
CONSTITUTION: In a cylinder 2 for a 2-cycle engine, an exhaust port 3 is opened at one side thereof and an auxiliary scavenging port 4 as well as suction ports 5 are opened at the other side thereof opposing to the exhaust port 3. These suction ports 5 are formed into a two divisions type 5a, 5b having a pressure receiving surface 6 in a longitudinal direction of the cylinder and the auxiliary scavenging port 4 is opend separately so as to form a cylinder wall 7 into substantially T-shape or Y-shape having the said pressure receiving surface 6 as a base portion thereof. Accordingly, a piston 1 will never be dropped into the suction ports 5 because it is supported by the pressure receiving surface 6, therefore, generation of step sounds may be prevented. An output of the engine may be increased sufficiently also without decreasing a scavenging efficiency.
