Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain Au alloy soldering material used for stainless steel, which is excellent in corrosion resistance, tarnishing resistance, and strength, by adding a specific amount of Si and Cr individually or mixedly to an Au-Ni-Pd-Cu alloy having a specific composition.
CONSTITUTION: Au alloy soldering material for stainless steel is prepared by adding 0.1W2wt% Si or 0.5W10wt% Cr individually or mixedly to an Au-Ni-Pt-Cu basic alloy composed of 50W70wt% Au, 5W20wt% Ni, 5W20wt% Pd, and 5W20wt% Cu. When the Au content is increased the cost becomes higher, but from the point of melting point and corrosion resistance, the Au content is set to 50W70wt%. The Cu is added to improve the workability and reduce the cost, and the Pd and Ni are added to lower the melting point. Moreover, the Si and Cr are added to improve the wetting property of brazing material against stainless steel and the corrosion resistance of the brazing material itself.
