Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the time required for exhaust, by performing simultaneous exhaust from runner chambers in respective stages, supplying pressurized water to the outside of the runner chamber of the highest pressure stage and sequentially filling pressurized water from a draft tube into the runner chambers starting with the runner chamber of the highest pressure stage.
CONSTITUTION: A vortex chamber 14 and a high pressure stage runner chamber 8 are connected to each other through a feed water pipe 21 which is provided with a feed water valve 22. An exhaust valve 19 for the exhaust pipe 17 of the high pressure stage runner chamber 8 and an exhaust valve 20 for the exhaust pipe 18 of a low pressure stage runner chamber 9 are simultaneously opened to start exhaust from the runner chambers 8, 9. At the same time, the feed water valve 22 is opened to supply pressurized water in the vortex chamber 14 to the inside of a guide vane 15 outside the high pressure stage runner chamber 8 to make a water-filled region. Pressurized water in a draft tube 16 is filled into the high pressure stage runner chamber 8 through the low pressure stage runner chamber 9 and a return passage 10 to make an underwater shutoff state. According to this constitution, the time required for the exhaust is shortened, the exhaust is safely effected and starting operation is smoothly shifted to pumping-up or electricity generating operation.
