Abstract
PURPOSE:To lower the starting torque and to shorten the time required for staring operation of a hydraulic machine, by opening water discharge pipes connected to the peripheral part of runners arranged in a plurality of stages, simultenaously with starting of air supply to an upper part of a draft tube. CONSTITUTION:Movable guide vanes 2, 4, 7 and water discharge pipes 10, 11, 12 are provided at the peripheral part of a high-pressure runner 1, an intermediate-pressure runner 3 and a low-pressure runner 6 respectively, and these water discharge pipes 10, 11, 12 are connected to a draft tube 14 via valves 15, 16, 17 respectively. In starting pumping operation of a multi-stage hydraulic machine arranged as above, the water discharge pipes 10, 11, 12 connected to the periphaeral part of respective runners 1, 3, 6 are opened simultaneously with starting of air supply to an upper part of the draft tube 14.
