Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a nozzle cut-out governor for a steam turbine which is improved in its safety and has reduced flow loss therein by improving the efficiency of a governing stage during a partial load running of the turbine and by reducing the number of repetitions of the fluctuations of load applied to the blades of the governing stage.
CONSTITUTION: A steam turbine has two governing stages 1, 2 provided for an axle 39 and is driven to rotate by steam which is injected towards two rows 40, 41 of blades in the stages. The output power of the steam turbine is controlled by regulating the amount of the flow which is sent out to the blades 40, 41. The steam turbine is further provided with steam pipes 31W34 which communicate to respective nozzle valves (regulator valves) not shown and also to steam chambers 35W38 which are provided with respective nozzles 46W49 and arranged in opposition to the blades 40, 41 along their respective circumferences. The nozzle valves are operated such that, when the flow of steam is to be increased, steam is injected from the nozzles beginning with the nozzles 46, 47 while the nozzles 48, 49 are at first shut off when steam is to be decreased.
