Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a bit excellent in the abrasion resistance and impact resistance at the high working temperature for excavating a stratum, by incorporating a required amount of C for obtaining the toughness, and adding Si, Ni, Mo, Mn, Cr, etc. for improving the cementation property.
CONSTITUTION: The bit consists of 0.10W0.50% C, 0.60W1.50% Si, 0.20W0.80% Mn, up to 3.0% Ni, 1.0W5.0% Cr, 0.5W2.0% Mo, 0.1W1.5% V and Fe and unavoidable impurities the balance, and is cemented, hardended and tempered. In addition to the above-mentioned constituents, up to 2.0% Co and/or up to 2.0% w may be added to improve the abrasion resistance, and/or one or more of up to 0.5% Ti, up to 0.5% Nb and up to 0.5% Zr may be added to prevent the toughness from lowering, and/or one or more of up to 0.1% Ca, up to 0.2% Pb, up to 0.1% S and up to 0.1% Te may be added to enhance the machinability. It is desirable that the content of O is limited up to 30ppm.
