Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the hot and cold workability, machinability, corrosion resistance and strength of an Ni alloy by adding specified amounts of alloy elements into Ni alloy for spectacles which contains Cr, Mn and the like.
CONSTITUTION: Into the Ni-based alloy containing less than 0.20% of C, 0.1W 4.0% Cu, less than 5% Si, 5W30% Cr, 0.1W20% Mn and 0.25W1.0% S is added 0.005W1.0% in total at least one element selected from the group consisting of 0.001W0.20% Ca, 0.001W0.50% Mg, 0.001W0.5% Al, 0.001W0.40% rare earth metals and 0.01W0.30% Ti. Optionally, at least one of Mo, Nb and W is also added in an amount of 0.1W5%, thereby enhancing the workability, machinability, corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of the alloy. Alternatively, when the amount of S added is less than 0.01%, toughness is greatly improved and corrosion resistance and spring characteristic are enhanced, although the machinability is lowered.
