Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI(R1 is H, methyl; R2 is H, hydroxyl where when R1 is H, R2 is H) or its acid adduct.
EXAMPLE: 3'-Deamino-3'-morpholino-daunomycin.
USE: Antitumor agent, antibacterial.
PREPARATION: The reaction between a compound of formula II or its acid adduct such as daunomycin and another compound of formula III (X is bromine or iodine) such as bis-(2-iodoethyl) ether is conducted, preferably in an inert polar solvent such as DMF, usually in the presence of an acid acceptor, e.g., at room temperature for 10W50hr to give the compound of formulaI. The molar ratio of the starting materials, compound of formula II:III, is preferably 1:(15W30).
