Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An N6-substituted Cordycepin derivative of formula I [R is alkyl or (substituted) allyl group].
EXAMPLE: N6-Acetylcordycepin.
USE: An antimicrobial and antitumor agent having resistance to adenosine deaminase, and useful as a prodrug of Cordycepin.
PROCESS: Cordycepin of formula II is reacted with an acid anhydride of halogenide of formula III or IV (X is halogen) in a solvent, e.g. pyridine, to give a compound of formula V (R' is H or R), which is hydrolyzed in an alkali to form the compound of formula I.
