Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a rolled product whose shape and flatness are satisfactory, by suitably displacing an intermediate roll and a split type backup roll, when rolling a metallic strip by use of a rolling mill whose work rolls are asymmetrical in the upper and lower rolls and different in the diameter. CONSTITUTION:The upper side cluster mill is constituted of a work roll 11 whose diameter is small, a pair of the first intermediate rolls 12a, 12b, 3 pieces of the second intermediate rolls 13a, 13b and 13c, and 4 pieces of split type backup rolls 14a, 14b, 14c and 14d. On the other hand, the lower side is constituted of a work roll 16 whose diameter is large, one intermediate roll 17 and one backup roll 18, by placing a rolling material between the upper side and the lower side. Also, as for the rolls 14b, 14c, the crowning adjustment can be executed by an eccentric sleeve 19. The rolls 12a, 12b and 17 are displaced so that the specular surfaces become symmetrical in the axial direction of the intermediate roll against a center line of plate width of the material, and also the rolls 14b, 14c are displaced in the vertical direction against the backup roll axis. According to this method, the shape control extending over wide width can be executed.
