Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectively perform a crown control of a material to be rolled, by giving initial crowns to work rolls and back-up rolls of a four high rolling mill, having work rolls movable in the axial directions, for hot strip. CONSTITUTION:Work rolls 2 and 3, made to have convex initial crowns of 0.1-0.5mm. formed through <=1/2 length of work rolls in the axial directions, are arranged to overlap the crowns alternately to each other, and are mounted pivotally on roll chocks 6 and 7 movably in the axial directions to roll a material 1 to be rolled, in a rolling mill consisting of work rolls 2, 3 and back-up rolls 12, 13. Convex initial crowns of 0.1-0.5mm. are formed through <=1/2 length of the back-up rolls 12 and 13 in the axial directions and at least on the opposite sides of the crowns of the work rolls 2 and 3, to prevent the generations of a body crown, an edge drop, and a center buildup of the material by shifting the work rolls 2 and 3.
