CONSTITUTION:At both ends of backup rolls 1, 5, the taper zones are formed with the chamfer length (a) being 5-32% of drum length L, and the angle theta being 0.01-1 deg.. This taper zone can be formed into one-stage or more, and also can be asymmetry between upper and lower backup rolls. These tapered rollers are built in as the backup rolls against the work rolls 2, 4, which then can carry out the rolling work for the sheet 3. With the increase of the rolling load, the contact breadth between rolls 1, 5, and 2, 4, becomes longer, hence, the roll bending factor K can be reduced against the sheet of breadth of wide range. Besides, by impressing the bending force on the rolls 1, 5, and/or 2, 4, above stated contact condition is changed correspondingly to the breadth of the rolled sheet, and the value of the factor K is further reduced.
