Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of the thermal strain, and to improve the dimensional accuracy, by purposely shortening only the web height to be obtained through the hot rolling work in order to make the web height adjustable through the following cold rolling work. CONSTITUTION:An H-beam with web height H1 is prepared through the hot finishing work by the universal rolling mill; an upper roll 12 and a lower roll 13 for adjusting the web height through the cold rolling work are installed on both sides of the web 11 of this H-beam so as to touch inner surface 15 of the flange 14. These rolls 12, 13 give a cold rolling work to upper and lower flanges 14 so as to stretch upward and downward, for adjusting the web height into the normal height H0. The present method depends on the shape adjusting cold rolling work, so that no strain occurs in the H-beam, the height and perpendicularity of the flange are obtained in normal dimension accuracy and the abrasion of the roll is very little.
