Abstract

PURPOSE:To promote cooling of an exhaust pipe and heating at the starting time, by dividing a heat exchanger body into the primary chamber and the secondary chamber by a bulkhead, arranging an exhaust pipe to the secondary chamber, and opening an outlet for engine cooling water in the neighborhood of an exhaust pipe. CONSTITUTION:The cooling water fed into an engine 30 by a cooling water pump 78 flows into the primary chamber 62 which is divided by bulkhead 60, in a heat exchanger body 40, from an engine cooling water inlet 64. The cooling water goes into a heat exhanging element 44, being cooled by the sea water, flowing from a sea water inlet pipe 52 to an outlet pipe 54 through a pipe 46, and flowing into the secondary chamber 63 from an engine cooling water flowing outlet 68. An exhaust pipe 70 is arranged to the secondary chamber 63, and the engine cooling water reaches a cooling water pump 78 from an engine cooling water outlet 76 which opens in the neighborhood of an exhaust pipe, after flowing around the exhaust pipe to cool it. With such an arrangement, cooling of an exhaust pipe and heating at the starting time can simultaneously be promoted.
