Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the overall thermal efficiency of an internal combustion engine plant, by providing in the engine cooling water circulating passage a heat exchanger for lowering the temperature of engine cooling water through heat exchanging of the engine cooling water with feed water supplied to an exhaust-gas economizer.
CONSTITUTION: Feed water supplied under pressure from pump 14 flows into heat exchanger 9 and its temperature is raised through heat exchanging with engine cooling water. Then, feed water is carried to exhaust-gas economizer 4, where it is converted into vapor or high-temperature water through heat exchanging with exhaust gas from engine 1, and the vapor or high-temperature water is sent to radiator 13. On the other hand, cooling water discharged from engine 1 is sent to heat exchanger 9 in case that its temperature is higher than the set temperature of thermostat 11 and the temperature is lowered through heat exchanging with feed water in circulating passage 15. Cooling water discharged from heat exchanger 9 flows into thermostat 18 and then carried therefrom into heat exchanger 10 via bypass passage 8b in case that its temperature is higher than the set temperature of thermostat 18. Then, cooling water is carried to engine 1 via expansion tank 12 after its temperature is lowered in heat exchanger 10 through heat exchanging with water in circulating passage 19.
