Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the thermal efficiency of a steam turbine, by raising the temperature of water supplied to a waste-heat boiler by use of heat possessed by hot water obtained after cooling of a heat engine that has been heretofore discharged to the outside of the system.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas of a diesel engine 2 is carried to a waste-heat boiler 4, which produces steam used for driving a steam turbine 6. Steam after use for driving the steam turbine 6 is condensed by a condenser 8 and then sent to a condensate tank 11 by a condensate pump 10. In the condensate tank 11, there is provided a condensate heater 20, to which hot water from the diesel engine 2 is supplied via cooling pipes 15, 17 for heating condensate in the tank 11 and at the same time cooling hot water from the engine 2 by exchanging heat with the condensate. Condensate thus heated is carried back to the waste-heat boiler 4 by a feed water pump.
