Abstract

PURPOSE: To lower the sealing water temperature than before and improve the vacuum pump performance as well as the turbine thermal efficiency by using raw water as the vacuum pump sealingcooling water.
CONSTITUTION: The sealing water supplied from a seperate tank 26 to a vacuum pump 24 by a sealing water pump 29 is cooled in a sealing water cooler 1 by the raw water supplied by a cooling water pump 23 from a raw water parent pipe 50 through a raw water extracting pipe 38. The cooled sealing water is supplied to a vacuum pump 24 through a sealing water pipe 37. On the other hand, the raw water after heat exchanging is returned to the raw water parent pipe 54 through a raw water return pipe 39, a check valve 47 and an outlet valve 48. By using the raw water as the sealing cooling water of the vacuum pump 24 as stated above, the sealing water temperature is lowered than before, the performance of the vacuum pump 24 as well as the turbine efficiency are improved. Further, differing from sea water, the raw water prevents apparatus corrosion.
