Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to conduct a rapid heating at a starting time, by a method wherein a device, which collects the exhaust heat from an engine and transfers it to a heater core, is provided with a heat exchanger mounted in an exhaust pipe and a heat exchanger coupled to aforesaid heat exchanger through a thermal diode. CONSTITUTION:A No.1 heat exchanger 10 consisting of heat-receiving fins is located in an exhaust pipe 6 of an engine 1, and is connected to a No.2 heat exchanger 14 through a thermal diode 11 transmitting the heat in one way direction. A return side from a heater core 5 at a cooling water line 2 running between the engine 1 and the heater core 5 is branched for being connected to a suction port of a pump 12, and a line 13 connected to the discharge port of the pump 12 is coupled to a line 2. A container allowing a current to flow therethrough is mounted in the middle of said line 13 to act as a No.2 heat exchanger 14. One end of a heat pipe 16 is situated in the No.2 heat exchanger and the other is positioned in a heat accumulator 17. A thermal siphon and the like is used as the heat diode 11.
