Abstract

PURPOSE: To dispense with cooling water cycle by flowing directly operating fluid into high temperature portions such as engine and exhaust portions to cool said high temperature portions while utilizing waste heat of an automobile for energy source to drive a Rankine cycle device.
CONSTITUTION: Operating fluid such as Furon flows into spaces between a cylinder 27 and outer wall 28 and between an exhaust pipe 24 and outer wall 25 to obtain heat from the cylinder 27 and its fins 26 and the exhaust pipe 24 and its fins 23. Thus, the operating fluid provides high pressure vapor which works in an expansion engine 21 and enters a condenser 16. The operating fluid stripped of heat and liquefied in the condenser 16 is sent again to a generator 22 by a pump 18 to repeat the same cycle. Thus, since the cooling portion of an internal combustion engine is used for a portion of the generator structure, water cycle used for cooling the engine can be dispensed with.
