Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce titled steel of high fatigue strength and a high endurance ratio to tensile strength by hot-working alloy steel contg. C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr respectively at prescribed ratios then allowing to cool or/and holding the same at below the temp. at which carbide solutionizes completely thence cooling the same quickly to leave a large amt. of unsolutionized carbide. CONSTITUTION:Alloy steel consisting of 0.15-0.45% C, <=1.0% Si, <=2.0% Mn, 5.0-10.0% Ni, and 18.0-20.0% Cr is prepared. Thence, this alloy steel is hot- worked and is then allowed to col or held to the solutionizing temp. of <=1,000 deg.C, after which it is cooled quickly or both treatments are accomplished. As a result, a large amt. of unsolutionized carbide is left on the alloy steel after said treatment, whereby the austenitic steel having the intended high fatigue strength is obtd.
