Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance electric conductivity and improve high discharge rate performance by using a powder-like conductive agent and a fiber-like agent together for a non-sintered type nickel electrode. CONSTITUTION:A conductive agent is mixed with nickel hydroxide, then hydroxypropyl cellulose colution is added and kneaded together into a paste-like material. This material is coated on a nickel net which is to become an electrode core, and after drying, a paste type (non-sintered type) nickel electrode is formed. In this case, a mixture of a powder-like conductive agent (e.g., graphite powder) and a fiber-like conductive agent (e.g., stainless fiber, carbon fiber) are used as this conductive agent. Regarding the amount of this conductive agent, it is proper to use 7-15vol%, of a powder-like agent and 0.05-4wt% of a fiber- like agent against an active material.
