Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the manufacture of the disc brake rotor by a method wherein a core constituting a primary steel plate, which comprises a hat part and a disc part, and a secondary steel plate with a plurality of air passages in internally chilled by casting with cast iron so as to form sliding parts over the primary and secondary steel plates. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, the core 4 constitutes the primary steel plate, which comprises the hat part 1a protruding inward after casting, and the disc part 1b, which is formed concentrically to said hat part 1a, and the secondary steel plate, which comprises concave parts 2a with the depth W and convex parts 2b, fixed firmly with each other. Secondly, said core 4 is installed between molds 5 and 6 with the primary steel plate 1 upside and, after that, poured with molten cast iron in such a manner as the molten cast iron passes through slots 3 in order to internally chill the both side surfaces of the core 4 by casting. Parts C, D and E of the casting cast as mentioned above are removed by machining and the casting skins of the remaining parts of the casting are finished as sliding parts 9 and 10 in order to form the brake rotor. In such a manner as described above, the manufacture of the disc brake rotor can be simplified because no sand core is used.
