Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a mold from cracking in end face and cylindrical end parts by providing a projecting or hollow part in order to form the shape of the end face of a mold for centrifugal casting in such a manner that a step part positions within the 1st molten metal layer forming an outside layer part without forming the same to a smooth surface alone.
CONSTITUTION: A step part 10 is provided to the sand mold 3 of an end part mold formed to an end plate 2, and a projecting part 9 of a disc shape is provided in an inside direction. When the 1st molten metal 4 is teemed into this mold, the outside circumferential face and end faces solidify and shrink, thereby producing clearances 7, 8. On the other hand, the step part 10 provided to the part 9 also solidifies and shinks, but the direction of the shrinkage is in an arrow direction, and abuts on and is confined by the step part 10 of the sand mold; therefore, no clearances are porduced. Since this prevents flux or the like from infiltering to the outside circumferential side in the inner part, the clearances 7, 8 remain vacant, and no differences in the rates of cooling are caused. A sound cylindrical body or circular columnar body is produced without hot cracking, and uneven microstructures.
