Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the manufacture of a ventilated type disk brake rotor of small-sized and light weight by a method wherein an air passage is formed by a steel plate and casted by molten metal altogether. CONSTITUTION:The first steel plate 1 is formed such that a radial projection part 1a making an air passage 3 and a passage port 5 for molten metal are pressed. The second steel plate 2 has the same inner and outer diameters as those of the steel plate 1, and the passage hole 5 is formed by a pressing process. These steel plates 1 and 2 are closely contacted to each other, then connected to each other by a spot welding and the like. The steel plates 1 and 2 are placed on the lower casting mold 11 and then the upper mold 10 is placed thereon. When the molten metal is poured into the cavity 9a, the molten metal is immersed into the cavity 9b through the passage hole 5, so that the steel plates 1 and 2 are casted altogether.
