Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable graphite spheroidizing agents to be installed in desired positions by mounting a holding material which is dissipated by molten metal into the cavity of a mold, and holding said agents by this holding member.
CONSTITUTION: A holding member 6 is fitted to the drag of a mold 1, and further the cope is placed and both molds are registered. The member 6 is formed of foamed polystyrene to have an inverted L-shaped annular shape section in a manner as to be fitted to the square part formed by a hub cylinder part 4 and a hub disc part 5. Graphite spheroidizing agents M are buried in the holes pierced near the lower part of the vertical part thereof. If molten gray cast iron is poured into this mold, the molten iron flows into the hub cylinder part 4 through a cross gate 2 and a flange part 3, and the molten iron level ascends, then the holding member 6 burns and dissipates rapidly from its contact part, so that the agents M are added to the molten iron, whereby the graphite of the pig iron of the part corresponding to the hub disc part 5 of a disc brake rotor shown with the hatched part (a) is spheroidized.
