Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain superior mechanical strength, hardness and wear resistance by freely packing powder prepared by mixing high tensile brass powder with powder of dezincification inhibitor or further adding lead powder and sintering the packed powder in a reducing atmosphere with a low point.
CONSTITUTION: High tensile brass powder is mixed with powder of a dezincification inhibitor or further mixed with lead powder and freely packed into a heat resistance container. By heating the container at about 800W900°C in a reducing atmosphere with a low dew point, the packed powder is sintered. This sintered rough body is finished to a prescribed shape by mechanical working. The resulting worked product has superior mechanical strength, high hardness and wear resistance.
