Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a contact material with high melt-sticking resistance and workability by blending silver, tin oxide and at least one kind of composed selected from a group consisting of nitrides, carbides and borides in a specified ratio as principal components.
CONSTITUTION: Silver, tin oxide and at least one kindof compound selected from a group consisting of nitrides, carbides and borides are used as pricipal components. The amount of the tin oxide used is 3W12wt% as tin of the total amount of the silver and tin, and the amount of the compound is 0.01W5.00wt% of the total amount of the three components. An Ag-Sn alloy is internally oxidized to prepare Ag-SnO2 powder, and this powder is mixed with such a predetermined amount of the compound and sintered to obtain a contact material with high melt-sticking resistance and workability.
