Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic sintered article having improved corrosion resistance, specular characteristics, etc. by compaction-molding metallic powder and sintering the molding then subjecting the molding to a sealing treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Prescribed metallic powder is compacted and molded to a prescribed shape, and the molding is subjected to a sintering treatment. This sintered body is subjected to machining such as by a shot blast method, screw down by cold rolling rolls, friction by rolls, etc., and is sealed to ≤5% porosities. The sintered metallic body after sealing is further applied with a heat treatment if necessary. According to this method, the sintered metallic article having superior oxidation characteristics, decarburization characteristics, impact values as well as corrosion resistance and specular characteristics is obtained. This sintered article is adaprable to a wide field including decorative goods, tools, machine parts and the like.
