Abstract

PURPOSE:To strengthen green compact and to prevent its chipping by molding metallic powder added with metallic soap as a lubricant for formation by compression to a required shape, heating the same to temps. higher than the m.p. of the metallic soap and allowing the same to restore the ordinary temp. CONSTITUTION:Metallic soap, for example, lead stearate, calcium stearate or the like is added as a lubricant for molding at about 0.5% to the metallic powder. This mixture is molded by compression and the resultant green compact is heated to temps. higher than the m.p. of the metallic soap and lower than the dewaxing temp. After it is held for about 10min at these temps., it is allowed to restore the ordinary temp. The metallic soap in the holes existing internally in the green compact is melted by the heat treatment and the continuous layers are formed and solidified, whereby the strength of the green compact is improved.
