Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce decarburization and obtain a steel product of well finished surface texture by subjecting a special steel to spheroidizing annealing treatment then to hot finish working.
CONSTITUTION: A special steel such as tool steel or bearing steel is subjected to annealing treatment consisting of heating and cooling. Next, this annealed special steel is subjected to hot finish working in such a manner that the carbon in excess of 0.10% does not form a solid solution in matrix. The resultant steel product has good surface texture and less decarburized depth.
