1299935 Producing articles from metallic powders GOSUDARSTVENNY PROEKTNOTEKHNOLOGICHESKY I EXPERIMENTALNY INSTITUT ORGSTANKINPROM 21 May 1970 24607/70 Heading B5A A method of producing an article from a particulate metal comprises pressure-forming a blank of the material, heating the blank without sintering and stamping the hot blank. The material includes iron powder, up to 80% iron chips and a binding and/or plasticizing agent such as zinc stearite. The constituents are loaded into a mixer 1 from hoppers 2 to 5, then passed through a batcher 6 into press 7 to form rough blanks in compression moulds 8 The blanks are heated for 10-40 sees. to preferably not less than 1000‹ C., in an inductor 9 of a high frequency unit 10, transferred to a stamping die 11 of an eccentric press 12 at a pressure of 8-15 t/em<SP>2</SP> and finally cooled in a chamber 14. Further operations such as tumbling, pickling, machining or heat treating may be performed.
