Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the sintered friction material while freely adjusting hardness and density by a method wherein a shape of the mixed powder of a friction material to be sintered is sintered at a high temperature under a nonpressurizing condition, let pass through a sizing process, stacked on a copper plated steel plate through an adhesion layer, and pressurized and sintered.
CONSTITUTION: Mixed powder is molded which consists of components such as 62% copper, 7% tin, 10% lead, 6% graphite, 8% iron and 7% a metallic oxide in weight %. The shape is sintered at a high temperature under a nonpressurizing condition, and finished in fixed size according to a sizing process. A sintered friction body obtained is stacked on a copper plated steel plate through an adhesion layer being composed of a metal group adhesive, and pressurized and sintered at a temperature lower than the sintering temperature under the nonpressurizing condition at the previous stage, thus manufacturing the sintered friction material as an object. According to this method, a level of the coefficient of friction (μ) can be adjusted comparatively easy while a strong metallic union is formed in accordance with the high temperature nonpressurizing sintering process, and wear proof can be improved.
