Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent dimensional accuracy of the ring-shaped permanent magnet from being deteriorated by a method wherein, in preparing the permanent magnet by sintering a ring-shaped molded body of a ferromagnetic powder, a layer of a specific metal is preliminarily formed on a surface of the ring-shaped molded body and, thereafter, the sintering is carried out.
CONSTITUTION: The ring-shaped molded body 1 having a central pore 2 is formed by press molding the ferromagnetic powder. Subsequently, a metal or an alloy layer 3 having a melting temp. higher than a sintering temp. of said ring-shaped molded body 1 is coated on the surface of said ring-shaped molded body 1 by a vapor deposition method, an electroless plating method or a spattering method. Next, the ring-shaped molded body 1 having said coating layer 3 is placed in a sintering furnace to be heated and subjected the ferrite type ferromagnetic powder to sintering to produce the ring-shaped permanent magnet. Because the ringlike molded body 1 is coated with the metal layer 3, said molded body is not deformed during sintering and the ring-shaped permanent magnet with excellent dimensional accuracy can be produced by a simple operation.
