Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain WC melt-spraying powder forming a dense melt-sprayed coat with high bonding strength to a substrate by mixing Ni-P alloy powder with a specified percentage of WC powder after which the mixed powder is pressurized, sintered and pulverized. CONSTITUTION:Ni-P alloy powder is mixed with 30-95wt% WC powder. The mixed powder is pressurized and sintered in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to produce a sintered block. The block is then pulverized and sieved to obtain WC melt-spraying powder having <= about 150 mesh. This spraying powder can form a dense WC melt-sprayed coat with high hardness and high bonding strength to a substrate, so it is widely applied to machine constructing parts such as various mechanical sealings and rolls requiring wear resistance.
