Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a given place and to provide a simple way to measure moistures of various types of materials, by a method wherein a microwave oscillator and receiver are mounted at one end of a waveguide pipe divided into an upper and a lower stage and are separately positioned at an upper stage and a lower stage. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic wave generated by a gun oscillator 3 is propagated through an upper waveguide 16 via a buffer resistor 14, and a part thereof leaks to the outside from a radio leaking slit in an E-surface of a waveguide pipe to be attenuated by an object 17 to be measured. The other end of a two-stage structure waveguide pipe 13 is structured such that a horizontal boundary wall 18 is removed, whereby a microwave power 4 is propagated through a lower waveguide pipe 19 to enter a receiver 7 as it is attenuated by the object 17 to be measured, and is converted into a DC power by a detection diode 6. The output is fed to an indicator 11 via an amplification circuit 10 and is converted into a percentage of moisture content for the indication. This permits simplification of a structure of a microwave moisture measuring device and miniaturization of the device.
