Abstract
PURPOSE:To make possible the reduction in the variations in measurement values by measuring the water contents of the cereals, tec. placed on the slots provided to the metal film bonded to one side of a low-microwave-loss dielectric substrate from the attenuation quantity of the radio waves being propagated. CONSTITUTION:Strip lines 12, 13 for coupling are provided on the back of a metal film 10 provided with slots 9, by way of a dielectric substrate 11, and cereals 7 being the specimen to be measured are connected to the slots 9. The output of a microwave oscillator 2 is directed to the slots 9 through the line 12, passes therethrough by receiving attenuation according to the moisture content of the cereals 7 placed on the slots 9, are again led into the line 13 from the slots 9 and is received in a wattmeter 8. Hence, by comparing the transmission power and the value of the wattmeter 8 which has received the effect of the moisture contents of the cereals 7 and from the quantity of the attenuation, the water contents may be measured with good accuracy.
